The Human Resources Specialist (HR Specialist) is a member of the site Employee Relations team and is responsible for the continuous assessment and monitoring of the organizational health of their assigned client groups. The HR Specialist reports to the Human Resources Manager and partners in the development and execution of various HR programs to drive employee engagement. The HR Specialist is also responsible for providing HR support to department leadership and employees within their assigned client groups regarding HR programs such as: Recruiting, Benefits, Employee Relations, Training & Development, Security and Safety.

Competencies · Recruiting & Selection

o Prescreen hourly applicant resumes.

o Schedule pre-employment drug screens and physicals.

o Coordinate external candidate interviews with department management.

o Proctor employment prescreening exams.

o Process background checks on candidates.

o Assists with local college recruiting.

o Assists with internship program by organizing all activities of hired interns.

· Benefits & Leave Administration

o Assists with collecting missing benefit enrollment paperwork from employees, as needed (Health, Life, Disability and 401k plans).

o Provides FMLA/MLOA/PLOA administrative support to Benefits & Leave Specialist, including collecting required medical documentation from employee.
  • Project Management
    • Track completed performance reviews.
    • Set up introductory meetings for new employees with President/CEO
    • Manage employee referral bonus program
  • Administrative
    • Conduct new hire orientation.
    • Create new hire orientation packets.
    • Process all new hire paperwork and data entry.
    • Process employee transfers and terminations in HRMS, and send Joiner/Transfer/Leaver emails.
    • Create new employee files and pull terminated employee files.
    • File active and terminated paperwork to hourly employee files.
    • Write SOPs as needed.
    • Attend department meetings to provide HR related information, answer questions and address concerns.
    • Schedule and conduct exit interviews for voluntary resignations, when notified by department, and enter exit interview feedback into HRMS.
    • Assist HR Manager with scheduling and conducting interviews for employee investigations.
    • Assist HR Manager with involuntary termination meetings.
    • Complete unemployment claim documents.

· English skills must be proficient to understand, read, write and speak English

Technical Knowledge Requirements:

· Basic knowledge of the functional areas of Human Resources management



· BS degree in Human Resources Management or relevant field preferred

· Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred

Work Experience

· Minimum of 2 years of HR Generalist level experience, preferably in a fast-paced, high-volume environment; manufacturing background a plus

· Well-developed professional skills, unquestioned integrity, and the experience, confidence and presence to effectively handle interpersonal relationships and sensitive HR issues.

Technical Knowledge

· Computer Proficient

· Knowledge of the functional areas of Human Resources management

· Proficiency in using MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, and Excel), and HR/employee database/systems

· Excellent multi-tasking, time-management and prioritization skills

· Strong work ethic, professionalism, and decision making ability
